GSLED - Lindsay Houston's 1963 GMC Styleside Pickup Project

Pickup was purchased as a rolling                 Original idea was to build something            Body was in reasonable condition

chassis with no running gear                            which looked the part and could pickup

customer's cars with our tandem trailer

Cab has been channelled 4 inches                 Motor is a Caddy V8 with turbo                       Following sandblasting front sheet

over the chassis along with reset                    400 gearbox                                                       metal is coated with epoxy primer

suspension it should make for a

good lowered look without the use of

  airbags.

Original idea quickly grew and we began      This requires letting the windscreen                This allowed us to achieve a full 3 1/2

the massive task of chopping a vehicle          into the roof panel and not actually                  inch chop.

with a wraparound windscreen.                       cutting the standard windscreen.

Chassis now utilises a XJ6 frontend              Rear end is a 9 inch, chassis was                  Rear window was overchopped 6

fully boxed                                                         inches for a lower look

Visor extended and corners radiused                                                                                        Chassis painted in PPG Prima primer

Chassis painted in a custom mix "charcoal shadow" of PPG basecoat/clearcoat 2 pack.
